This will be a great hike in one of our local, in-town wilderness areas. We’ll cover 5 miles on a moderately strenuous out-and-back trail with 1000 feet of elevation gain/loss. But even better, we’ll learn how to use a compass and topographic map together – satisfying some advancement requirements for 2nd Class and 1st Class! Once you learn this critical skill, you’ll have a better appreciation of the terrain and you’ll never be lost again. This will be a “rain or shine” event, so be sure to be prepared for the weather conditions!
